Julie has worked with children and families for over 25 years. She began her career at Massachusetts General Hospital as a research assistant in the Department of Pediatric Psychopharmacology, coordinating a longitudinal study of ADHD in boys. She went on to receive her graduate degree in School Psychology at Tufts University (MA/CAGS)

She began her career at Massachusetts General Hospital as a research assistant in the Department of Pediatric Psychopharmacology, coordinating a longitudinal study of ADHD in boys. She went on to receive her graduate degree in School Psychology at Tufts University (MA/CAGS) and worked in public schools at the elementary and high school level as a licensed school psychologist providing evaluations, therapy, consultation to teachers, developing IEPs, and chairing special education eligibility meetings.
In 2010, Julie transitioned to a clinical and research setting, the Institute for Learning and Development, where she became the Assistant Director of Assessment. She conducted neuropsychological, psychological, and educational evaluations, parent consultations, coordinated a research project, and supervised a team of educational specialists and psychologists.
In 2022, Julie became a Licensed Educational Psychologist in MA. She and her colleague, Cheryl Baressi, established the Educational & Psychological Associates in Lexington in 2022. Julie has published articles focused on ADHD, executive functioning, and learning in several peer-reviewed journals.
Julie is passionate about working with students of all ages and committed to helping families to better understand attentional and learning differences and to advocate effectively.

With 25 years of experience administering and interpreting neuropsychological evaluations and supporting students, parents, and educators, Cheryl’s approach is thorough, insightful, compassionate, and informed. Cheryl evaluates children, adolescents, and young adults who present with a wide range of neurodevelopmental, learning, and social/emotional difficulties. She translates complex neuropsychological data into clear, specific, and accessible recommendations that are tailored to each individualized profile.
Cheryl began her career as a psychologist in the Dover Public School system where she assessed students, consulted with teachers and parents, directed the Center for Student Self-Regulation and Resiliency, and developed professional development programs for staff. In addition, she developed and and directed a summer camp for students focusing on executive functioning (“Brain Matters”). In the past, Cheryl has also assessed students at school systems in Sherborn, Needham, and Hingham.
In the private sector,
Cheryl has conducted neuropsychological evaluations at the Dana Group in Needham, General Psychological Services in Andover, JBG Educational Group in Medfield, and Institutes for Learning and Development (ILD) in Lexington. She is currently part of a private practice, Educational and Psychological Associates of Lexington and does evaluations for the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Boston. In these settings, she has evaluated students from preschool to young adulthood and from public to independent schools and colleges. She consults and collaborates, attends school meetings, and consults with families, educators, therapists, physicians, and other service providers to support optimal outcomes for students.
Cheryl is a Licensed Educational Psychologist who holds graduate degrees from Boston University (MA) and University of Massachusetts (CAGS).
In addition to her knowledge and experience, Cheryl brings to the evaluation process her qualities of curiosity, empathy, and respect. She is committed to taking the extra steps to achieve clarity and find solutions and has always found her work fulfilling and gratifying.

As a mental health professional for several decades, Dr. Cohen has worked in various clinical settings in the greater Boston area, including community mental health centers, hospitals, college counseling centers, therapeutic schools, public & independent schools, interdisciplinary settings, and private practice.

Dr. Cohen has a doctorate from Northeastern University's combined school psychology and counseling psychology program. She also has a master's degree in counseling psychology from Boston College. Dr. Cohen trained at multiple Boston-area clinical settings including Harvard Medical School and Judge Baker Children's Center. She is a licensed psychologist in Massachusetts and New York. In addition, she is a licensed Massachusetts school psychologist.
Dr. Cohen is neurodivergent affirming in all aspects of her practice, which means she values and accepts the many ways in which individuals think, process, and perceive information.
